Padanaram has been voted Best US Harbor in a recent contest held by [USHarbors.com](https://usharbors.com/). The Best Harbor contest kicked off in January with 1,278 harbors across 23 states participating with Padanaram winning the title, "Best Harbor in the US." If you've never been to our little corner of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, you don't know what you're missing. Padanaram can feel like another world entirely. Walking or cycling the quiet streets of our village, you could almost forget you’re not in a small seaside village in Europe or on a Hallmark movie set.

## Why Padanaram is the Best US Harbor

If you’re looking for hustle and bustle, this is the wrong place. With its old-country charm, this harbor village is where you might bicycle from art gallery to high-end clothing shop, drink coffee and eat fresh pastries, have a leisurely lunch or share a bottle of wine.

There's plenty to explore along the well preserved streets of Padanaram other than the architecture. This historic area radiates elegance and charm. Grand homes, once the trophies of fearless sea captains overlook the harbor. Quiet streets meander along the waterfront beckoning an earlier, simpler time. The village comes to life each spring as the summer baot cruising season arrives and mariners return to the water.

The Village of Padanaram has recently experienced a revitalization with new restaurants and shops popping up along the harbor, making it a top waterfront spot along Southeastern Massachusetts. Of course, the locals would prefer to keep the harbor their own secret, but it’s hard to keep a good thing quiet.

South Dartmouth is home to historic [South Wharf Yacht Yard and Marina](http://www.southwharf.com/), centrally located in Padanaram Village. South Wharf is a full-service yacht yard and marina offering deep-water slips up to 130 feet. Just across Buzzards Bay from Cuttyhunk, and in the middle of New England's prime sailing and cruising grounds of Martha's Vineyard, the Elisabeth Islands and Nantucket, South Wharf is also the headquarters for Cape Yachts.
