Things to Consider When Buying a Boat

Whether you are an active angler, a veteran sailor, or one who has only dreamed of sailing from port to port, you may be planning to buy a new boat. A new craft might be a replacement for your current one, an upgrade, or the yacht of your dreams.

As you shop for your first or next powerboat, sailboat, or yacht, the size of the boat should be one of the first factors to consider. To have made your purchase and later realize you should have gone larger or smaller can be very upsetting.

Having spent many years selling boats, I’d like to offer my thoughts and help you in the boat buying process. The first and probably most important thing, is to think about how you will use your new boat. Consider the following: location, crew, fishing, cruising, etc. Will you be overnighting on the boat? Will you be entertaining or fishing, maybe a combination of both? There is nothing worse than spending too much money or too little, only to find that the wrong boat is at your dock. So, we begin.
